VP Rewards — Card Terms & Conditions

1. General Provisions
These Terms and Conditions govern participation in, and use of, the VP Rewards Programme operated by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd (“MiniPOS”). By enrolling in the Programme or using a VP Rewards Card (physical or digital), you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
- The prevailing version of these Terms and Conditions shall be published on the VP Rewards website. Continued use of the VP Rewards Card constitutes acceptance of any amendments made from time to time.
- Should you not accept these Terms and Conditions, you must cease participation in the Programme immediately.
- MiniPOS reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to amend, suspend or terminate the Programme; alter its operational provisions; refuse membership to any applicant; suspend or terminate membership without notice; and cancel accrued rewards where there is evidence of abuse or misuse.
- In the event of termination of the Programme, accrued cash rewards shall remain valid and redeemable for a period of sixty (60) days thereafter.
- No indulgence, leniency or extension of time granted by MiniPOS shall constitute a waiver of rights or a novation of these Terms and Conditions.
- The VP Rewards Card may not be used in conjunction with any other loyalty or benefit programme unless expressly permitted by MiniPOS.
2. Marketing Communications
By providing personal information and expressly opting in, members consent to receive Programme-related communications and marketing materials via telephone, SMS, email, post or other available channels. Consent may be withdrawn at any time via the website or by contacting the Call Centre at 043 748 2180.
3. Personal Information and Privacy
Registration requires a valid identification document and a mobile phone number. The Programme is subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and all applicable legislation.
MiniPOS shall take reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure or loss. Personal information may be used for, inter alia, the following purposes:
- Compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, including requests under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000;
- Law-enforcement assistance, anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing initiatives;
- Complaint handling, internal monitoring, auditing and training;
- Marketing, analytics and strategy development, including sharing with affiliates and authorised partners.
By registering, members consent to the processing and storage of their information by MiniPOS, which may include transfer to and storage on servers located outside the Republic of South Africa.
Members are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their credentials. Any unauthorised activity resulting from disclosure of such credentials shall be at the member’s risk. MiniPOS may require one-time PIN verification to effect certain changes.
4. Accrual of Rewards
- VP Rewards Cards are available at participating locations, subject to availability. A virtual card is automatically allocated upon first registration through the VP Rewards App.
- The card (physical or digital) must be presented at the time of payment in order to accrue rewards. Rewards cannot be earned retroactively if the card is not presented prior to payment. Registration is required before any earning may occur.
- With effect from 1 December 2024, a tiered structure applies. Tiering and benefits are based on, among other things:
- frequency of transactions at participating locations;
- volume of qualifying fuel purchases;
- purchases of qualifying non-fuel items.
- The VP Rewards and Capitec partnership ended on 31 March 2025. Capitec customers no longer receive a different earning rate.
- Rewards expire after 36 months of account inactivity (no earning or redemption). Where an account has been blocked for 12 months or longer, accrued rewards may be forfeited.
- If a technical issue prevents accrual at point of sale, members may submit a claim via the Call Centre (043 748 2180) with the relevant purchase receipt.
Exclusions (no rewards accrue), irrespective of tier:
- airtime and data bundles;
- tobacco products (including disposable vapes and heated products);
- car wash, car rentals and car repairs;
- cash withdrawals (including ATM and cashback transactions);
- lottery or gambling-related services;
- purchases from Spar stores;
- restaurant purchases;
- ticketing/utility top-ups (e.g., electricity);
- a maximum of two (2) oil or lubricant products per calendar month.
5. Redemption of Rewards
- Rewards accrue to the member’s VP Rewards Account and shall be available for redemption from 1 October 2025, provided the card has been registered.
- Redemption requires presentation of the VP Rewards Card and may be effected only at selected participating locations within South Africa.
- Rewards may not be exchanged for cash, are not transferable, and cannot be funded by deposits.
6. Lost and Stolen Cards
- Members must arrange deactivation of a lost or stolen card without delay by contacting the onsite manager or the Call Centre at 043 748 2180.
- MiniPOS shall not be liable for value redeemed prior to deactivation.
- Replacement cards are available at participating locations.
7. Fair Use Policy
- The Programme is intended to reward genuine customer transactions. MiniPOS may exclude from accrual any transaction or set of transactions not originating from bona fide sales.
- No person employed at a participating location or related business may accept rewards on behalf of a customer.
- MiniPOS may limit accrual to one loyalty scheme per transaction and may vary the list of participating locations.
- MiniPOS staff, suppliers and related persons may participate as members but are ineligible for competitions, instant prizes or similar promotions related to the Programme.
8. Collection of Personal Information
We collect and process personal information primarily to provide access to services and products and to improve our offerings. The type of information collected depends on its purpose and will be limited to what is necessary.
Examples of information collected:
- name and identification particulars;
- email address and telephone/mobile number;
- user-generated content submitted to our website;
- transactional data.
With consent, information may be supplemented with data received from third parties in the financial and retail industries to personalise your experience.
9. Collection of Non-Personal Information
We may automatically collect non-personal information (e.g., browser type, referring website) and may aggregate submitted details for analytical purposes. This information does not identify you and may be supplied to third parties for website-related use.
10. Amendments and Policy Changes
MiniPOS may amend these Terms and Conditions and/or the Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be published on the VP Rewards website and shall be effective from the stated effective date. We will not reduce your rights under the Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. For any queries, contact the Call Centre at 043 748 2180.
